Description

The Data Centre Analyst has the responsibility to provide a consistent presence at the Data Centre to assist with multiple areas of Data Centre operations. These include, but are not limited to, assisting the operation teams for both managed and co-location services, Data Centre Facilities Managers, and Customer requests.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assemble/build/rack computing, network and storage systems
  • Provide hands & eyes support to Network Operations Centre, Architects and end customers
  • Shipping and receiving tasks
  • Creating, updating and closing ServiceDesk tickets for applicable tasks.
  • Some cable installation and cable patching
  • Closely protect client and Customer access through physical security oversight
  • Work with security guard team to provide physical security services for datacentre including enforcement of standing orders, patrols, footage review etc (once security guard team is brought on)
  • Work with Facilities Technicians to help monitor and document building management (BMS) control systems readings in a scheduled manner
  • Update documentation and inventory systems
  • Ensure that best practices are adhered to around power, cooling, labelling, cabling etc
  • Run datacentre projects such as cabinet consolidation and collocation introduction
  • Adhere to clients national Data Centre standards
  • Work with facilities teams and cleaning staff to maintain a clean environment
  • Maintain and document spares inventory
  • Requirements

  • Good understanding of servers, networking and storage systems
  • Familiar with datacentre best practices
  • Some understanding of data centre electrical and mechanical systems preferred (air conditioning, electrical distribution systems etc)
  • Meticulous, precise and careful
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds
  • A+ certification desired
  • Ability to work in a rotational shift environment
  • Ability to work unsupervised and complete tasks as required
  • Familiar with ITIL and best practices
  • Qualifications

  • College Diploma or University Degree focusing on the discipline of telecommunications or computer engineering an advantage
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever changing environment
  • Other Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of client's processes and systems an advantage
  • Skilled in operation of MS Office and ability to familiarize and work with client's internal order processing tools
