This role will require the individual to work shift work – 4 days on and 4 days off. Time and hours can be discussed in the interviews.

Bell National Hosting Services (NHS) provides co-location and managed services to Bell Business Markets customers nationally. Operating data centres in Montreal, Toronto and Calgary, Bell offers IT solutions to both mid and enterprise market customers. Services provided range from space, power, cooling, physical security, internet, firewalls, backup/restore, managed virtual servers and a variety of applications. All solutions are architected with multiple levels of redundancy, significant scalability and overall high availability. Customers are supported through a 24*7 Network Operations Centre and are backed up by an industry leading service level agreement.

The NOC Analyst will have responsibilities for providing end to end hosting solutions for mission critical web hosting. The individuals chosen for these roles are to be senior technical resources with a wide breadth of technical experience and expertise. As such, they are empowered to make on the spot design and operational decisions. The Manager will also assume a variety of pre-sales responsibilities ranging from product research to responding to RFPs and meeting with prospective customers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing customer support and maintenance for agreed upon IT service levels.
  • Identify production issues, respond to support calls from business units, and managing production incidents from inception to resoltuion.
  • Continue to monitor applications and systems and excalate issues as required.
  • Assist in provisioning of customer architectures
  • Engage other Bell departments for solutions design and delivery
  • Research and evaluate new products and technologies
  • Design and build tools to assist in operations management such as knowledge bases, capacity planning systems etc
  • Perform quality assurance and testing to ensure production readiness
  • Requirements

  • Experience supporting client production issues; Solid customer service and communications skills; and undergraduate degree or technical diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent understanding of server operating systems (Linux, Windows)
  • Strong understanding of IP, subnetting and TCP/IP protocols
  • In Depth of knowledge in backup and storage technologies
  • Excellence in security systems such as firewalls, VPNs and IDS
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and OSI model
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork and customer service skills
  • Good knowledge of hosting marketplace
  • experienced with Windows and open-source operating systems
  • nice to have in-depth knowledge of switching and routing
  • nice to have knowledge of SQL, Exchange, Citrix
  • Cisco CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, Microsoft MCSA/MCSE, Red Hat RHCT or other, Network+
  • Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years network experience in a data center and managed IT services environment
  • College or University Degree focusing on the discipline of telecommunication or engineering
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever changing environment
  • Other Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of Bell Canada processes and systems an advantage
  • Skilled in operation of MS Office, Project and ability to familiarize and work with internal Bell order processing tools.
  • Capable of building an informal knowledge network to assist in their knowledge and development within Bell Canada
