Bell’s Telecom infrastructure is currently undergoing VoIP transition as part of a large Life-Cycling program. Bell Media buildings have a mix of different stand-alone telephony systems and are due for refresh of end of life infrastructure over the next 1-3 years. Several of the core switches are already manufacturer discontinued and end of life for support adding day to day risk as well as exposing challenges for growth or moves on the platforms.
While system instability continues to loom due to Bell Media’s aging infrastructure, it is difficult to develop a strategic plan to address due to lack of resource availability and non-existent current mode of operation (CMO) information i.e. detailed functional and system requirements.
An urgent front end analysis is required to provide the necessary requirements information in order to build a strategy for Bell Media’s voice infrastructure. Securing a contractor Business Analyst for 6 months will allow IT to gain valuable insight and properly assess options to build a short and long term plan.
Primary Role & Responsibilities:
Compile Comprehensive Report of Bell Media’s Voice Infrastructure
Quickly develop and maintain professional client relationships via combination of telephone calls, face to face meetings and client site visitsUsing in depth knowledge of telecom systems, work with cross-functional teams to gather and interpret conceptual business needs and document requirementsCollect and evaluate technical data from multiple sources, understand designs and specificationsIdentify, evaluate and document operational changes to improve information and processing systemsIdentify and quantify risks relevant to business and systems requirements.Package findings and analysis to produce and present results to broad audience Required Qualifications/Competencies:
Contractor must possess the following:
BA Certification with proven track record of 3-5+ years of Business Analyst experience delivering requirements and documentation for mid to large size projects in a complex business and IT environmentTechnical Certification along with minimum 5 years’ experience working with PBX’s/UC infrastructure in particular: Cisco, Avaya, NortelAdvanced working knowledge of Unified communications, IP telephony, and data networkingFamiliarization with Media and Broadcasting operationsHighly self-motivated and self-directed with proactive approach to problem solving, multi-task oriented team member with ability to self-manage tasks to completion within structured timelinesAnalytical ability to extract, integrate, conceptualize and apply ideas, processes and information to capture accurate requirements in a constantly changing technological and business environment.Strong PC skills (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, Project, Visio)Excellent English oral and written communication skills.Be willing to travel on occasion
