Quality Assurance specialist needed with background in user-experience testing for multi-platform video-streaming applications

Bell Canada is looking for a self-motivated individual to work within the Video Technology & Engineering Department. The applicant will be monitoring and testing IP video delivery services and features in a fully furnished internetworking and test lab facility. They will be working with a team of verification engineers and specialists to perform software verification and user-experience testing on a best-in-class mobile video streaming application. The increasingly competitive IP video services industry ensures that the work will be innovative and challenging.

Job Logistics:

  • Normal Working hours: 37.5 hours per week between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Mon.-Fri.
  • Working location: Ottawa, ON
  • Responsibilities:

  • Generate test plans for multi-platform video streaming applications
  • Configure environment to support testing activity
  • Execute test cases in the lab to verify successful integration of customer premise equipment, middleware & network components
  • IP video testing on fibre, copper, satellite, cellular and cable TV systems
  • Conduct trouble analysis and develop resolution hypothesis
  • Formulate experiments and execute to validate assumptions
  • Document and communicate testing results via web applications
  • Generate automated testing scripts on a variety of platforms
  • Generate problem reports, changes requests, and service enhancement proposals
  • Skill & Experience Requirements:

  • Strong written and oral communications skills a must
  • Strong collaborative skills required, working well within a team is essential
  • Strong analytical skills and strict attention to detail required
  • Ability to investigate problems independently, and perform root cause analysis
  • Experience with end-user experience validation is a definite asset.
  • Experience with defect reporting tools Jira, Zephyr, Bugzilla, is an asset
  • experience with automated testing solutions (Appium, Cucumber, Calabash, Perfecto, Sikulix, etc) would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of XSL, XSD, Python and Ruby is an asset
  • Education/Certificates Required:

  • Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Software) or Computer Science preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Bilingualism is a definite asset (English and French)
