  • tuning machine learning models
  • Experience in cyber security related field
  • Unilingual is fine.

As a data scientist focused on detecting anomalous security events you must have experience in the development and application of machine learning models on security data sources. These sources include: network traffic, device logs e.g. firewall, operating system and application logs.

Your responsibilities will include developing new models, building a risk monitoring framework and integrating third party open source and commercial code.

You will be working to build a new advanced security monitoring solution in Bell, working on extremely large data volumes. The ability to design effective and efficient algorithms is key.

    Your responsibilities:

  • Provide mathematical projections of system load and code efficiency.
  • Develop supervised and unsupervised machine learning models using Apache Spark.
  • Support the migration of legacy models to a new big data environment.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for development teams building the big data platform ensuring optimal performance of algorithms.
  • Design and implement an effective algorithm to monitor risk for assets on Bell’s network.
  • Integrate and tune third party machine learning models.
  • Support the architecture team in reviewing and selecting new tools and hardware to improve the big data platform.
  • Desired skills:

  • Master’s Degree or higher in Data Science or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven track record of developing effective and efficient machine learning models.
  • Experience with of Apache Spark and the Hadoop software suite.
  • Ability to code data mining algorithms and scripts (in Python, R, Scala, or similar).
  • Experience working with streaming data sets. Experience with security information and event management tools (SIEM tools, vulnerability analysis tools, etc.)
  • Ability to define, write and test SIEM Usecases
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot and identify points for improvement or optimisation.
  • An understanding of the security measures/ controls for operating systems and application protection systems (Web, Mobile Apps, Cloud Apps, Internal Apps, etc.)
