  • Projects will be working on

  • Support program management in the Video/TV technology area, including the following areas: o Agile Portfolio Manager
  • Support management of the Video/TV technology portfolio/funnel, including linkages with business partners and with execution release trains across multiple domains - Release Train Engineer (RTE)
  • Manage deliverables within an Agile Release train to deliver specific initiatives within the Video/TV Technology area
  • Hours worked - 37.5 hours per week - Occasional work outside of normally operating hours depending on stage of project
  • Potential for full time - Potential but depends at opportunities available in team at that time
  • Due to covid, all current work is remote. Longer term, there will likely be a mix of office & remote
  • team is spread over Ont, Quebec & Atlantic provinces – so it should be in one of those provinces)
  • Candidate should deliver in 6 months - Managing program deliverables as it relates to Video technology initiatives, across multiple teams, following Scaled Agile (SAFe) principles

  • Qualifications
  • Recognized subject matter expert in Agile/Scaled Agile methods, obtained through advanced education and work experience
  • Professional Project Management or Agile Practitioner (including SAFe) certifications
  • Note from manager:

  • Resource will be remote for now
  • Once covid over, the expectation is for resources to work partially in the office, however number of days per week is not finalized
  • As team is spread out, potential office locations are: Ottawa, Toronto (multiple locations), St. John NB, Quebec City
  • We are looking to fill a couple of roles, aligned with the Scaled Agile framework:

  • Agile Portfolio Manager – Support management of the Video/TV technology portfolio/funnel, including linkages with business partners and with execution release trains across multiple domains
  • video specific experience is not mandatory. However experience in delivering complex technology projects across multiple domains is highly preferred
  • Release Train Engineer (RTE) – Manage deliverables within an Agile Release train to deliver specific initiatives within the Video/TV Technology area
  • As an Agile Technical Program Manager, you will play a key role in the evolution of client’s delivery of new products and services to TV customers, working with senior management across network, IT and business, to facilitate a continuous delivery of video features and technologies, while aligning planning and investments with business strategy. Focused on the next 12-36 months, the main mandate is help ensure that the TV team is aligning our priorities, capital and resources to deliver the most value, at the right time, to move our business forward.

    Responsibilities include:

  • Concrete understanding of software development life cycle models
  • Expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together to deliver value to our customers
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing software projects using Agile methodologies
  • Prior experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies, including Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Preferable to have experience with SAFe Lean Portfolio management
  • Be able to develop and/or implement planning level roadmaps
  • Provide coaching to extended teams members on the Lean mindset and Agile methods
  • Facilitate workshop or specific Scaled Agile events
  • Build financial forecasts with supporting reporting methods
  • Build program level communication portals to foster collaboration, across teams
  • Prioritize based on Weighted Shortest Job first (WSJF)
  • Create and communicate material to senior level management
  • Provide recommendations on risk mitigation strategies
  • Work with architects team to ensure solutions are developed according to the Solution architecture
  • Working with external partners and other client teams on solution options and related recommendations
  • Preference to having a solid end to end understanding of all of our video technology and services within client
  • Education/Certification/Designation

  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (or equivalent degree or experience)
  • Recognized subject matter expert in Agile methods, obtained through advanced education and work experience
  • Professional Project Management or Agile Practitioner (including SAFe) certifications
  • Technical Leadership

  • 10+ years of experience as a Program Manager managing large, complex projects in a high-tech development environment with multi-function teams; PMP (or equivalent) preferred
  • In depth knowledge of the end to end video services and architectures for FibeTV & FibeTV App including video delivery, infrastructure, and features
  • Advanced experience with Agile methodology practices
  • Experience in deploying large systems in production
  • Experience in Software Development Lifecycle projects
  • Manage Relationships

  • Ability to manage through influence in a complex and evolving environment to meet challenging time lines and organizational goals
  • Demonstrated problem solving, communication and organizational skills, a positive attitude, and the proven ability to negotiate and influence others to obtain desired results

  • Working Conditions:

  • Work hours are Mondays to Fridays, approximately 37.5 hours/week
  • Flexible work start and finish times
  • Some overtime may be required in order to meet deadlines
