The “mid-level technology consultant” profile is sought to provide expertise in computer server management.


The areas of intervention are :

  • Management of the Suse Linux Enterprise Server environment;

  • Management of the high availability environment under Suse Linux Enterprise Server;

  • LVS and HaProxy load distribution environment management

  • Windows Server environment management;

  • Microsoft Exchange environment management.


In the context of this mandate, the resource will have to present work experience related to the realization of work similar to the following tasks:

  • Prepare various SLES servers for laboratory, development, production and back-up environments.

  • Manage, maintain and operate high-availability environments using Steel Eye Lifekeeper products

  • Implement a new high-availability mode for these environments using the Suse Linux High Avaiblity Extension (HAE) product.

  • Manage, maintain and ensure the proper operation of the load distribution products LVS (KeepAlive) and HaProxy

  • Management, maintenance and operation of Windows Server environments

  • Management, maintenance and operation of Microsoft Exchange environments

  • Ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of these environments by applying updates, new versions and security patches

  • Monitor these environments to detect operating and/or performance problems

  • Manage the security of these environments by :

  1. applying specific and restrictive rights;

  2. installing antivirus software;

  3. managing access events (syslog) and sending them to a remote monitoring firm;

  4. providing answers to security questions raised by the Auditor General during annual audits.

  • Maintain a technological watch on environments in order to detect improvements or ways of doing things that could be beneficial to MFQ operations;

  • Ensure a minimum of valid and up-to-date documentation of these environments;

  • Plan, organize and implement strategic product succession operations;

  • Participate in the creation and implementation of a succession process;

  • Coordinate maintenance and implementation work with team members, other management teams and customers;

  • Test specific specialized products.


Minimum ten (10) years' experience in information technology, including one or more of the following:

  • maintenance and evolution of technological infrastructure (obsolescence, upgrades, solution evolution),

  • technology operations management,

  • administration and/or monitoring of technology services.


** Face-to-face work two days a week in our Quebec City offices required.
