Job Description:

The BASIS Administrator is the technical expert responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA environments, ensuring their security and compliance.


Key Responsibilities:

Installation and Configuration

  • Prepare hardware and software infrastructure for SAP S/4HANA installation.

  • Install application servers and HANA databases.

  • Configure initial system parameters (languages, currencies, users).

  • Perform regular audits to secure user access.

HANA Database Administration

  • Perform database tuning for optimal HANA performance.

  • Implement backup and replication strategies for data availability.

  • Monitor and manage data volumes to optimize storage resources.

Security and Compliance

  • Define and enforce strict security policies (access, permissions).

  • Ensure compliance with regulations such as GDPR and SOX.

Performance Monitoring and Analysis

  • Proactively monitor system performance in real-time.

  • Analyze logs to detect anomalies and identify trends.

Maintenance and Updates

  • Plan and execute updates for SAP S/4HANA and HANA.

  • Apply security patches and maintain system stability.

Support and Troubleshooting

  • Provide Level 3 technical support to resolve complex issues.

  • Manage and document incidents, including root cause analysis and permanent fixes.

Collaboration and Projects

  • Participate in SAP S/4HANA deployment, migration, and integration projects.

  • Document system configurations and train junior administrators and end users.

Adapting to New Technologies

  • Work with SAP RISE cloud solutions (public and private).

  • Develop automation scripts for repetitive tasks (backups, health checks).

Training and Documentation

  • Document configurations and processes for troubleshooting and training.

  • Train internal teams on SAP management best practices.


Required Qualifications:

  • University degree in IT or equivalent experience.

  • Expertise in SAP BASIS architecture and security concepts.

  • At least 5 years of experience managing SAP systems (Basis).

  • Participation in 1-2 SAP S/4HANA projects (nice to have).

  • Strong communication skills and client service orientation.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and complex issues.

  • Team player, rigorous, autonomous, with excellent writing skills.

  • Fluency in French (spoken and written) is mandatory; functional English is recommended.


Specific Details:

  • 100% remote, with occasional on-site presence in Montreal as needed.

  • Work in the Eastern Canada (EST) time zone.

  • Most requests are operational for production systems.
